I just got this in the mail today, has anyone ever had their permit revoked for seemingly no reason? My vehicle hasn't changed and I haven't moved apartments. Currently in JP...I'm going to give them a call tomorrow but wondering if anyone has any insight. Thank you!

Wow that is so weird. Did you forget to renew your registration? Do you have unpaid parking tickets?

Was this addressed to you correctly? Many things about the letter and formatting make me think this is fake. First guess would be neighbors that just hope people blindly give up on parking in the neighborhood.

Call the number listed on the parking permit site, not the letter. The phone number on this letter doesn’t match and doesn’t come up on a google search.

I got one of these exact letters a few years ago. The person I spoke to at the City Hall said it was because my insurance had been revoked (ed. note: It had not. I knew it had not. I confirmed it had not.). They reinstated my permit while we were on the phone because they couldn't find the "paper trail" from the audit they had done. All that to say, it's probably an administrative error and I hope it's sorted as easily for you!

I would assume it would be on a letterhead and the signature looks really weak too. Usually, they have their name and some other info under it.

I mean, the spacing with the 6 1 7 is strange too. Some spelling and grammar things too.

A lot of red flags

The image is cut off but does it have a City of Boston seal on it? All official communications from city hall will have the city seal on it.

If not this is likely a fake. Also the published 635 number would connect with a city department but it is not publicly listed making it an inside number, possibly as a way to horas someone.

Parking permits usually have assigned serial numbers and that should be also listed on this letter.

Call the main number of the Boston Transportation Department (it's at the city web site) or just call 311 to get connected. Describe the letter and offer the number published.

My initial take is this is a scam.
