A lot of stuff is always going on in Boston, and that includes a lot of free events and activities. However, I have found that these are often not publicized in a way that could be easily looked up. I will often google "Boston events this weekend" and get SOME results, but often they're things like nightclub events or tours that are available year round. I will occasionally have good luck checking library or museum websites, and I have had some success with Facebook event pages. I don't work downtown, however, and don't usually take public transit, so I don't get as much exposure to actual flyers and signs for local events in my day to day life. Are there any good resources for finding these events in Boston? How do you find out about fun niche events in Boston?

The Boston Calendar does weekly lists. You can sometimes find good ideas in Boston Magazine, too.
This town has sorely needed an arts and entertainment-focused publication since the Boston Phoenix folded (a decade ago now). That was the go-to place for listings (and also thoughtful reviews) for many years. May it RIP along with the Improper Bostonian and the Weekly Dig.
