And Journey to the Center of the Earth.
I have to add The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson. And The Lottery, same author but that might be in her short story collection.
This absolutely a great read
Animals Farm, 1984, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Crime and Punishment Great Expectations, Sherlock Holmes stories, Child 44, 12 Years a Slave, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, And Then there Were none, The Silent Patient, Oliver Twist
1984 and Great Expectations. Also Narcissus and Goldmund
if you want something thrilling and also considered literature, I would recommend A Farewell to Arms by Hemmingway.

Atlas Shrugged
Did you like it?
I found it contrived and boring. Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace.
I did. It’s my favorite book. I also understand it’s sort of fallen out of favor the last 10 years or so. It’s important to remember it’s a work of fiction and a critique of a government that doesn’t exist anymore. It’s not meant to be a modern political platform.
Yeah I kind of got that. I read in 2003 IIRC.
But I felt it was a bit preachy, more a manifesto than a story. Perhaps if I had known it I would have not been bothered.
