The subtle art of not giving a fuck by mark manson. I don't know if it's the best book out there but it's pretty honest about a lot of things that people go through in life

This isn't strictly an answer to your question so apologies, but there is a podcast called By the Book where the 2 hosts "live by" a self help book for 2 weeks at a time, and explain the main takeaways and whether it was actually helpful or not. It's great for figuring out whether a self help book will be worth your time and sometimes hearing the takeaways on the podcast is enough to actually do the helping

Not sure it’s exactly what you’re asking for, but I’ve found books on critical thinking and logic to be quite helpful. The best being {{The Demon Haunted World}} by Carl Sagan. It’s the one book I recommend literally every human being read.

I read a lot of what's classified as Self Help but I don't really think any 1 book is magically life changing. I think many books offer many views on something and there are usually bits and pieces I personally find helpful, insightful, and/or useful for myself. I take small pieces away from some books, try things, discard what I don't find valuable. I'm sure some of these things may be helpful to others in their own situations.

I think the varying perspectives and how people approach problems is in itself interesting even if I don't agree or prefer that approach

Reading "How to get rich writing self-help books" by Dr. Wish U. Good (PhD), made wonders for me.

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

Her philosophical approach helped me change the way I viewed the objects around me and took me from hoarder tendencies and intense messiness to being happily tidy for the long term. Love her so much.

"Buy Yourself the F*ucking Lilies" by Tara Schuster. I'm sure it is not the best one out there, however, I found I could relate to more pieces than other books geared to helping yourself. It felt real to me and pretty honest. Might be a hot take, but I enjoyed it and maybe someone else would too 😊
