I dont know if I'm on my own here, but this book is one of the best things I've ever read. It's by Robert Rankin and I tend to devour his stuff anyway.

He likes to say he writes his own genre 'Far Fetched SciFi' this particular book is about nursery rhyme characters being killed off in Toy City and only our child hero Jack with his trusty Eddie Bear can find the killer.

So, has anyone else read Robert Rankin or anything similar rhat you can recommend?

Jasper Fforde's "Nursery Crime" and "Thursday Next" series do the same.

Finally read it earlier this year and thought it was a classic of his (RR is a favourite author of mine). Read the sequel and sadly found it a bit weak in plot and imagination.

A. Lee Martinez comes to mind as something similar. He's written a bunch of books and it's always a new setting with new characters. "The Automatic Detective" is one of my favorites. Noir detective novel set in a retro future.

Yeah Robert Rankin is amazing. The Brentford trilogy is top notch, also the Armageddon trilogy. Fast paced monty pythonesque weirdness.

Reread it recently, still funny as. Love how comedy is just woven into the prose. Only other one I read was the Brightonomicon, not quite as good but still entertaining. Any others you'd recommend?

Hey, so I quite like Robert Rankin's absurdism. My favourite thing about Rankin is that he narrates all his own works. This is probably my favourite novel of his but I haven't read many. I quite like the Cornelius Murphy trilogy. The one about music DaDeDaDeDa Code was quite a ride!

My best friend at school gave me this. I had forgotten all about it until mentioned here. I have nothing to add barring that I loved it and it’s wonderful to read it’s still being discovered.

I'll go for the Japanese Devilfish Girl. I loved that series.
