Is he John le Carré’s successor?

He certainly writes books that I can’t put down. From the opening sequence in Slow Horses, I was completely hooked. I like that he doesn’t shy away from killing characters you have come to care about. No one seems safe, except for Jackson Lamb, and that is as it should be.

I took out book 7 of the series from the library last year but I found it tedious and didn't finish it, but I'm willing to consider that you have to read the series in order so I put book 1 on my to-read list.

The Slow Horses series started out really strong, but the last couple entries seem to have degenerated into tropes and set pieces. Still good stuff, but.

Olen Steinhauer is my pick. But neither of them are up to early Le Carre.
