Read the whole series. You can do it. Taken as a whole, the Dune epoch is a staggering body of work. I found the first book was so satisfying after the whole series.
It’s an intellectual exercise to be certain. But what else do you have to live for?

I finished all the original books by Frank Herbert earlier this year, but I've been wondering if I should give any of the books that came after his death a try. Anyone here have thoughts on that?

The Brian Herbert novels are badly written cashgrabs that read like fanfics by someone who missed every important point of the original series. Avoid them.
