I suppose I more mean elaborate character designs of something like magic the gathering or Yugioh. A card game in which characters imagine vivid depictions of actions that take place within a game

I read a book where some siblings had their own made up game they had come up with as kids and played into adulthood and it was central to the plot. I forget what it was, it was something kind of 1920’s Gatsby style.
