You might try Life as We Knew it and The Dead and the Gone by Sarah Beth Pfieffer

Monster by Walter Dean Meyers is a good one and Fallen Angels by him as well.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is also great but you have to hang on for the first chapter. It’s a bit weird and confusing but then the story straightens out.

I also adored The Book by Marcus Zusack. The narration is a little different but the story is wonderful
