I think I fully agree with everything you wrote. Such a strong start and so much buildup for most characters, and then their respective endings just dropping down a cliff. The whole angels vs. demons thing could've been reduced to zero. The spider was just annoying after some time (How can nobody figure out this dude nobody knows anything about might be suspicious?). Granted, it's been some time since I read it.
I wanna mention that I think Aliviana's (Liv's) story arc wasn't believable enough in the later books.
Even after all that, I enjoyed them, but I don't think I would generally recommend them; would really depend on the person.

Yea. Liv's story went a bit sideways, same with Tia.
There was so much more that I wanted to talk about like the Spectrum council, soul casting, the Blackguard, The White, black and white Luxan, etc.
The book is just overflowing with great ideas but it really fell off at the end.
