I really liked the Night Angel trilogy (but felt it also went a little sideways at the end).

I started the Lightbringer books way back when they first started coming out, but I quit after the second book. I forget exactly what bit was (it's been ten years) but it might have something that broke the rules of the universe he'd established because it was convenient to the point he wanted to make. He may have resolved the plot hole later, but I was already done.

When I saw the series had expanded from three books, to four books, to five books, I didn't regret my decision to bail out earlier.

I like the Night Angel trilogy overall but I have some complaints about it. Mainly how the main character becomes ungoly powerful at the end of the first book and that leave almost no progression for the next two books.

And I hated pretty much ever scene with Dollgirl.

Weeks is better when he doesn't write women. They're invariably sexualized, both in others' gazes and in their own. Or they're somehow Perfect Virginal Pure Angels.

Yup. That was another point I didn't get to. I hated pretty much everything any dollgirl in Night Angel and every woman except the White had some description of their breast size.
