I was going to suggest Butcher as a nice enjoyable read, and you said it bored you. Now, out of curiosity, which books? Books 1 and 2 are his weakest. He even admits to that. A lot of people suggest that you can start on book 3. The pace definitely picks up from there.

Thank you. I may need to try again. Any other detective novels? I liked Walter Mosley for a bit.

I rather enjoyed the novels by William Landay (The Strangler, and Defending Jacob).
Each is a separate story, and they were fairly good.
