This was my first thought, too. I LOVE my public library!
But we have to consider that some people may not have access to a local public library. Or that they may not be able to get there for one reason or another. That said, if there IS a library nearby, perhaps that library has home delivery services. Not all do but some do. If I understand correctly, a borrower probably needs to “qualify” to be eligible and the qualifications will vary by the library. Anyway, it’s something to consider.
Additionally, I plugged “netflix for books” into search and came up with a few alternatives. Whether they are good or viable or reputable, I don’t know, but it couldn’t hurt to take a look.

Yes but sadly local libraries are not that good.

Explain.
Why are they "not that good"? What are they not delivering that you expect they should be delivering, or that's required for them to be "good"?
