I just had a major lightbulb as I was snacking on some leftover port wine cheese from Christmas…

When I was growing up in the county, several restaurants would serve a little bowl of port wine cheese and crackers when you sat down, similar to rolls and butter. I completely forgot about this until now… I can’t even remember the last time I saw it.

Please tell me there is an old school spot(s) that still does this so I can go there for lunch or dinner this weekend?!

Sunset in Glen Burnie and Kibby’s in Southwest Baltimore did this, both closed. I can’t think of any restaurants still open who do this. I’m following, this is a classic old fashioned appetizer.

While we're at it, bring back the Hickory Farms stores and their free samples.

This just gave me memory whiplash. Used to love going to the Middleborough Inn with my parents, because they always served port wine cheese prior to dinner.

I know you can buy it at the grocery store. Not the same but it's something.

Cheese Galore and More definitely has port wine cheese. You should check them out anyways, it’s one of the hidden gems in Federal Hill.

I'd suggest the RoFo in Highlandtown.
