I have a collection of empty pill bottles that I have accrued over the years of filling prescriptions. I read that certain places like ASPCA, etc, accept donations of cleaned pill bottles. Is there anywhere around the city that accepts cleaned, empty pill bottles? I'm trying to do my best upcycling and reducing my trash waste

I know you asked about empty pill bottles but just a heads up, the Highlandtown Walgreens on Eastern has a prescription drug dropoff kiosk if you have unwanted/expired medication.

Most of the Police Precincts (city and county) also have drop boxes: https://health.maryland.gov/bha/Documents/Central-Prescription%20Drug%20Drop%20Off%20Sites.pdf

They will almost certainly end up in a landfill regardless of what that says. Plastic should be re-used as much as possible. I use pill bottles for screws and other small bits and bobs.

Agreed! I want to try and find an alternative before putting it in the recycling bin. I've already used as many as I can for things around the house. Seems like with so many people getting pill bottles there should be a good way to reuse them

Almost no plastic actually gets recycled. Plastic recycling has always been green washing.

Sure, I put plastic in the recycling bin too. But the plastic industry has promoted recycling to make people feel ok about buying one use crap because it can theoretically be recycled. In reality only clean #1 and #2 plastic actually has any chance of really being recycled. Far too many people throw any kind of plastic, clean or dirty into the bins. It's called wishcyling. The manufacturers need to be held accountable for the waste, and stop pushing the cost onto consumers and the government. Single stream recycling is a feel good scam that results in less material actually being recycled.

This artist used to be in the area and would accept pill bottles, however I do not know if they are still in Baltimore - https://www.kelliegillespie.com/medicated
Edit: Just found this post on Instagram and she is no longer local https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg0BIrNP9CE/

BARCS takes empty pill bottles! We'll clean them and use them for animal medication to go home with fosters or adopters.
