There's like the same 50ish people on this sub who hate Atlas and think they are setting the narrative for Baltimore with their constant anti-Atlas rhetoric. The truth is Atlas wouldn't be as successful as they are and expanding constantly not just throughout the Baltimore region but DC, Annapolis, Philly, Texas, and FL if they weren't successful. I have no skin in the game with Atlas, I just find the constant anti-Atlas rhetoric on this sub ridiculous and boring, and I'm suspicious of the motives behind it. Perhaps it's people with failing restaurants badmouthing the successful competition? 🤔

−2

DfcukinLite OP t1_iw6vpf5 wrote

Lol atlas aren’t “successful” because of merit. They’re billionaires children and grandchildren that were given a few restaurants on their families property harbor east in the four seasons with stolen concepts from chefs of merit, Then expanded chained versions of the same Restaurants in Texas, Florida and Annapolis. The DC locations aren’t doing that well and aren’t that popular because people in DC actually have taste. Atlas does well because all of their restaurants are on their family’s prime real estate in tourist areas and the steal ideas and poach talent from competitors. That’s it and all.

dopkick t1_iw53ma2 wrote

I asked enough questions on our one and only date to be able to answer those questions!

It was somewhere in Africa and generally the workers hung out together a lot. They would make it a point to check out as much as possible. It was safer to do things in a big group as well. So it sounded exciting from that perspective.

Divorce rates are high because the +1 usually finds miscellaneous admin jobs, at best. The novelty of being somewhere exciting wears off quick when you find yourself being a secretary after formally working as a senior engineer. And that often breeds resentment. The employed spouse also gets to travel a fair bit (for work) which means the +1 gets to fly solo a fair bit but never fully fits in.

People who don't get married before heading over often get married while over there. Apparently having similar jobs makes things... easier. But they get divorced too because once the job comes to an end people can find out they don't actually have too much in common.

I will give her credit, she held up to my interrogation quite well. She also probably thought I was interested, so there is that.
