Any recommendations on how to get this to stop? What are the laws in the city? New here.

I have an issue with it because it stinks up my can and also when I was away and the can was left open, it rained and the baggie was loose and it became dog poop water. At times it also ends up getting stuck to the bottom of the bin and I have to remove it. I’m sick of this, really.

Yes, that is gross. At the same time its a city owned trash can so I highly doubt there are rules against it. Putting a sign on would be your best bet.

Put a bungee cord on the can so the lid is hard to open, one of my neighbors does that

And if they didn’t pick it up, you’d complain.

People do this to me. I have the same issue. Could you get another liner or bag that fits inside the city can so it doesn’t become perpetual poop soup?

I didn't know this was a thing until I bought my house. People do this on my street. When I moved in, the contractors the previous owner had working on the house left a huge can of their construction trash (which I had to haul away to the Reisterstown Road station myself, but that's another story) that smelled like death. I just knew I was going to find a dead animal in there.... nope: like 10 bags of dog poop. No telling how long they had been in there, either. After this, I learned to never leave my can in front of my house for an extended period of time beyond trash day itself. I work from home 85% of the time and always on trash day, so this has helped a lot. But the problem is the dumbasses who put the bagged poop in on trash day.

One day I was moving my car for street cleaning, and I "caught" a woman with her dog, putting bagged poop in someone's can. For some reason I thought it would be a guy. Wrong. Smh.

I put dryer sheets in the bottom of my can. They absorb (some) of the smell and some of the exploded bagged poop. Other than writing a message on top of your can, I'm not sure what to do. Think about the poor trash collectors: you're supposed to bag the trash... but now imagine them dumping your can of bagged trash and having to deal with literal bags of dogshit loose and possibly exploded in the can.

If you are someone who does this and you are reading this, yes, you are an asshole and also disgusting.

I’ve heard putting a brick or a cinder block on your trash lid helps with this.

My advice? Get over it.

I’ve had people put all sorts of shit in my can. I’ve also had people literally shit on the steps approaching my house, and throw litter all over the ground in front of my house

If you’re in the city, just be happy than you don’t have worse going on.

Also, maybe petition govt to put in a trash can somewhere. I’ve definitely walked with dog’s poop for like 35 min through residential areas without finding anywhere for dog’s poop

The place for dog's poop is in your own trash can. The entitlement of dog owners never ceases to astound. Nobody owes you people convenience. Think about that before you get a dog.

I have to clean up my neighbors’ cat shit, human shit, and dog shit. I’ve had to spend thousands on treatments for parasites from neighbors’ “outdoor” unleashed cats shitting parasites all over my yard.

And y’all are upset about a little poop in a bag in a city owned can.

Thanks. Yes this is my biggest challenge, it’s only on trash day or I would have locked it up. I’m going to put another very serious notice and hope they read it. Because if trash can is open idk how to get them to read it. Previously there was a notice hanging and people ignored it, but I’ll post another one. I feel like it’s just this one person.

Set out a separate can with a bag inside labeled “for dog poop only”. I’ve seen this done before. Hella cool community service. You should stop most poop from going in your can AND be the hero of your neighborhood.

Not a lot you can do.

Post a sign “not for your dog waste…take it to your own trash can”

Get to know your neighbors…they are also in this bind, may have some tips or Intel

They may also be doing the deed and feel less inclined to impose on you if they know you
