I couldn't have told you who it was but when I saw it was gone figured they did something undesirable and there was pressure to remove it which is fine. I just hope they replace it with another comparable statue

Say what you want, Taney didn’t defect to the Confederacy. He also never owned slaves unlike that prick George Washington who’s monument is still up.

I’m good with avoiding statues of individuals. A statue honoring soldiers of a given conflict, or the proffession of Nursing, sure.
Lionizing a particular person begs to become irrelevant at best, or worse, as in this case: dude loved slavery.

No, it’s quite clear. Sometimes people simply agree and disagree on various aspects and aren’t phased despite the assumptions and simplistic, course accusations of others.
