Do you know where you’ll be working, and if so, do you value being close to where you work? That might help narrow down the suggestions. Also, what do you prioritize in a neighborhood? Safety? Diversity? Nightlife? Easy/quick access to major thoroughfares? I think every neighborhood that will probably be suggested here has strengths and weaknesses in all those areas, so which is most important to you?

Safety and nightlife/walkability is important to me. I have not secured my job as I’m coming out of electrician school in West Virginia and plan to probably join the Maryland union. I can commute to work but want to be able to walk to grab food and such

I don’t know your age, but Federal Hill has good safety/walkability and lots of nightlife options, although it definitely caters to a younger crowd (early/mid 20s). Statistically, I believe Locust Point is the “safest” neighborhood in Baltimore, a little more residential, and has a quieter nightlife scene but also very close (walkable) to Federal Hill. Fells Point, Canton, Hampden, Remington, Charles Village, and Mt. Vernon might also fit what you’re looking for in terms of the safety/nightlife combo. I think the areas near the water (LP, Fed Hill, Fells, Canton) do tend to be a bit pricier, although it sounds like from your budget you’d definitely still be able to find options within that range. Especially if you consider splitting a place with roommates.

I work in the heart of the fed hill nightlife, so I'm just gonna call you out on that. The more clublike bars are ratchet as all hell, but the further you get into fed, and get into the smaller bars, the more chill it gets.

What’s your favorite bar? I walk by Idle Time a lot and that seems really chill.

Idle hours is fantastic, I've heard some good things about Mother's but I haven't checked it out, Pub Dog on Cross is nice because it's very much not a nightclub bar, but more of a pub.
Riverside is also worth checking out.

Idle hours, yes. For some reason I see the sign like every day and still call it the wrong thing 🤦🏼♀️

Yes I was referring more to the Cross St/Charles St nightlife area, which depending on one’s individual taste, age, preferences, etc., could be appealing or unappealing. Did not mean to imply Federal Hill is “only” that scene though, so apologies if that’s what came through in my original post.

>Cross St/Charles St nightlife area,
The area that's had three shootings in the past month, and two days ago a brawl where one woman beat another woman to the ground, lifted her head up by the hair, and kept punching her?
Cause that's the area I work in, and I saw that incident first hand two days ago.
What came through was that the fed hill club scene is not one I'd really recommend to anyone. Hampden and Canton are much better to actually enjoy a night out and not have to worry about some drunk asshole starting something.
