Is asking about a specific birth control method a red flag? Is asking your doctor about any of the pharmaceuticals we see on tv a red flag? If you are struggling with depression, have tried traditional medicine un successfully for years, and you hear that ketamine worked for someone you know or you hear about it on a podcast or you get targeted advertising on Facebook… it’s not a red flag that you’re asking for a cds it’s you’re last resort

If you have long term depression, it can be a bear to deal with and remedies seem to be spotty at best in terms of effectiveness. I know Johnny Hopkins is doing trials on psychedelic mushrooms for treatment, unfortunately I don't know of any ketamine treatment in the area.

If you're in real trouble with S. ideation, take Folic Acid with a B12 supplement as it has been found to have over 40 percent improvement in preventing episodes. https://biologicalsciences.uchicago.edu/news/features/folic-acid-reduces-suicide-attempts

It's relatively cheap with no real side effects other than masking B12 deficiency, hence adding B12 supplement.

Baltimore Ketamine clinic in Sparks is great. I'd definitely recommend them. Good luck, OP! The infusions totally saved my life earlier this year, so I get how difficult treatment resistant depression can be!

My friend started Mindbloom earlier this year. It may take a couple tries to get your dosage properly. They want you to have someone with you when you start, and then to come up after and help monitor. It's a pretty great system for an at home process. I can follow up with him more if you would like, OP.

You're wrong with ketamine therapy. They tend to be separate practices who specialize. It's not going to get you flagged any more than asking for some other specialist like for EMDR or TMS or something.

The hardest part will be getting it covered by insurance, because it's off-label. But if you selfpay, it's no issue.

Columbia Associates in Psychiatry has a MD office - I go to a VA location for Spravato (nasal ketamine) and I just had to get it pre-authorized by my insurance.

Although fair warning, the staff are all really nice, but trying to get in touch with their front office can be a PITA. You might have to call a few times.

Thanks! I had not thought to look at studies. But I just checked Hopkins' website for that, and sure enough, they are conducting a number of psilocybin studies. They focus on specific conditions (e.g., Alzheimer's, anorexia nervosa) that don't fit my situation. But it is good to know that studies can be a source of treatment. (Now that I think of it, I got my covid vaccinations -- the first two -- in the Astra-Zeneca trial!)

I had Spravato at Aspen Day Treatment in Halethorpe. Wasn’t effective for my depression, but I did enjoy the treatment at least. Certainly beat the Electroconvulsive Therapy or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Which also didn’t work…

It's great to see there are recommendations on here. When I was looking around 2016, I could not find any place within a 2-hour radius. Best wishes, OP!
