They could install gold seats and the 1962 Civic Center would still be a POS.

Is there something inherently wrong with the building? Is it full of asbestos or something?

It is the reason the Baltimore Bullets left and there is no NBA and no NHL in Baltimore. Even the Baltimore Blast left for SECU Arena in Towson. Acoustically inferior for concerts. Good for the circus I suppose but there are no more circuses. Their website does have a whopping 3 days of scheduled events in the next 6 months. I think that says it all.

I see six events, but there also can't be events for the next two and a half months because of construction. And one of those events is the ciaa, which is a week long.

The Blast leaving was more Ed Hale having a falling out with the City and ownership of the arena. They did play there for almost 40 years prior to the move.

The NHL Board of Governors actually came to Baltimore prior to expanding with 6 teams in the 60s. Even then, the sightlines were so poor they refused to put a team here. That team ended up going to St. Louis to become the Blues (which ironically enough is the NHL team I avidly support).

I'm a rigger and have worked several shows there over the years. the ceiling is incredibly awkward to hang shows effectively, requiring common use of a very uncommon technique that might only ever need regular use in maybe one or two other venues in the country, from what I've been told. hopefully they're doing some work up in the ceiling as well lol.
