Also, because if this city were to somehow roll the dice and hit a 20 and elect a truly effective and generationally unique mayor/council and then have to let that go away because of an arbitrary term limit…well, that would be tragic.

Local voters are generally more sensitive to local issues not being attended to — or attended to — and tend to vote out or retain incumbents at a much higher rate than national or statewide incumbent officials. There have been numerous historical reviews supporting this. I wrote a huge college paper on this. Term limits may be more beneficial (depending how you define that) at a statewide or national office level, but is actually likely more arbitrarily limiting on a change-embracing local electorate.

Question K should be defeated. It’s a pointless amendment that will actually limit local voter choice where such choice is more effective.

Their ads for "Vote OK on question K" are all over my damn Facebook and Instagram.

Whenever I see them, I post a link to this discussion here from a few weeks ago and paste this text:

> "Just like the failed initiative to dramatically lower property taxes, Question K looks good in theory. But, in practice, it would have a widely negative effect in the long term. This amendment would not benefit Baltimore but would benefit those seeking to profit off the city at the expense of those who live here."

> "Consider who's pushing for this amendment: an organization called People for Elected Accountability & Civic Engagement. As noted by WYPR, "it’s chaired by Jovani Patterson, a former Republican candidate for Baltimore City Council President, and the effort is largely funded by David Smith, the chair of Sinclair Broadcasting,"

I need to understand the rules of political flyers, because I'd like to make a ton of "TELL SINCLAIR TO GO TO HELL, VOTE NO ON QUESTION K" posters

For gods sake legalize weed. I'm tired of driving an hour south for something our nation's Capitol considers legal to buy.

Do you have to register every time you vote? I have received a sample ballot in the mail. Does it mean I am registered?

You might need to change your registration if you moved since the last election. You can double check your registration status here

Super important to check your voter registration status. You don't want to show up only to be denied.

Step 1: Check your voter status (link in comment above)

Step 2: If you find you're not registered, here are the deadlines.

Step 3: If you are not yet registered… You can still register to vote IN PERSON up through Election Day:

> In person registration deadline: Tuesday, November 8, 2022

In addition to going to a polling place on Election Day and registering there, I believe this means you can go to an early polling location and register there. (although you should probably check with someone qualified)

Find your polling place here

If you are going to try to register at an early polling location, PLEASE NOTE early polling places are different than the polling place you would go to on Election Day → → → Get a list of early polling locations here

Good luck and happy voting!

If you have received a sample ballot at your address with your name on it, you are registered to vote.

Also: Maryland doesn't remove inactive names from the voter registry. I bought my house in 2011 and still get sample ballots for one of the last tenants who lived here.
