I’m 36- born and raised in Baltimore. My sisters went to Bryn Mawr so spent a lot of time on that hill on Northern Pkwy. Now I live in Rodgers Forge so I’m on it all the time.

Has it ever been replaced? I think my entire life it’s been that same tan odd pavement. Is that accurate?

What other city roads haven’t been repaved?

Northern Parkway was expanded to six lanes in that area in the 60s/70s, around the same time the JFX was being built. So yes, it's definitely been repaved. Has it been repaved since the 2007 Google Street View photo? No. Unless you are walking on cobblestone or brick in Baltimore, it's been repaved at some point in its history. Asphalt roads have a lifespan of 15-20 years and nearly twice that for concrete.

Ive been wondering this my entire life. Driving from Towson to downtown via Northern Pkwy>83, I think to my self every time "why the fuck haven't they repaved this."

It also used to be steeper than it is now. They put in the sweeping curves to make it less steep. Probably when they did the 6-lane expansion. It was previously called Belvedere Avenue

And interestingly, Lake Ave. at least east of York Rd was once Northern Pkwy.

I live close to this location….it just baffles me that the city would make a 6 lane divided “parkway” with frequent intersections and 30MPH speed limit . It should be one or the other, a city street or a freeway. The light at Bryn Mar is ridiculously long too.
