Thank you to everyone that came out to last night’s magnet fishing meetup in Fells Point! This was our largest turnout yet!

Notable Finds: 4x Scooters, Shopping Cart, e-Skateboard, Walkie Talkie, Bike Rim, and Large Sections of the Metal Dock Walls

I also took my new ROV which I’ve decided to name “Michael Phelps” for a swim 🏊🏾‍♂️

Don't forget that American Eel that slithered out of the scooter right when we were all trying to crowd around to take this pic. Crazy times.

Do you reunite the scooters with their company?

I wonder where the growth rate of the group caps...I love seeing how there are just a few more folks every week.

Question: I have seen magnet fishing on tiktok a lot and in general it’s cool, but what is your guys goal?

Is it more focused on finding cool shit, or an effort to clean out the harbor? Maybe a mix of both is my guess haha

Keep it up either way, have fun!

I appreciate how this group continues to grow. Soon you can take shifts, cover more area, and eventually lobby city government to be stricter on these scooter companies

What do you propose the city do to the scooter companies? They have paid for a permit to operate in the city to provide transportation. They already don't want their scooters in the harbor to begin with as it is a loss of revenue and then they have to pay to replace the scooter. The company itself isn't the ones tossing them into the harbor.

Implementing fines for the environmental pollution, for the improper storage, for the road hazards they present for drivers when left on the streets. If companies can’t keep track of the tools they use to make transportation easier because it’s cheaper to just replace them then they should be made cost prohibitive to operate within the city until another company that prioritizes that can

Have you used one? The apps restrict where you can park them, you have to take a picture of them to verify and if you park them improperly the user gets fined. What can the scooter company do to prevent a random drunk pedestrian from picking up a parked scooter and tossing them in the harbor?

I have, they can spend the money to track the gps locations of the scooters and send employees to remove the ones that are out of place? Remove the ones that were last known to be in the literal harbor?
