Hello Baltimore!

My partner and I are currently in the process of planning our wedding and obtaining wedding rings is next on our agenda. We are interested in finding vintage or pre-owned rings, and we were wondering if you have any suggestions for local dealers who may carry what we're looking for?

Thanks in advance!

Hi-Ho Silver in Ellicott City. Not only sells, but can remake/resize.

I think the owner/jeweler at Hi-Ho is named Will? He is a gem. We used to take the same yoga classes years ago and he’s such a nice guy. My husband’s wedding band has a complex oak-bark wraparound relief and we needed to take it down a size, but all the jewelers we took it to said it couldn’t be done without leaving a noticeable seam.

Will did it for $75 - and he did it so well, sometimes I just look at it and wonder how? The relief isn’t interrupted, no seam. The ring is just smaller. I think it was maybe actual magic. Hi-Ho is legit.

Yep, Will is a really good jeweler/goldsmith. I had a Rottweiler bite my hand and literally flatten my wedding band into an oval (the ring saved my finger from being broken). It was a repro museum piece with a pattern and engraving. Will was able to salvage it and over-solder it onto a white gold band to make a very classy new ring. I recommend his shop whenever people are looking for something out of the ordinary.

My wife and I got our rings from Hi-Ho Silver. My band is an in-house design, while hers are both vintage. Highly recommended!

Bijou in Roland park has a lot of vintage rings! Smyth has some too, but much smaller inventory.

As I recall, from like way too long ago, Smyth carries pre-owned vintage jewelry, including engagement rings, and I think Nusinov does as well? The advantage being that you could get a vintage setting with a new stone, if you’re having trouble finding a combination you like.

Believe it or not most jewelers will have options for you. My wife and I went to the mall in Towson and they had vintage pieces at like 4 different jewelers. You can also try lakeins on Harford Rd in Hamilton, they're awesome

B&A Blvd near Crain Hwy has an antique store, dunno the name of it though. Gorgeous jewelry, decent prices.

I don't know if Strawberry Fields up in Hampden carries anything except costume stuff but theyre on FB you could ask.

My fiance and I went browsing for vintage rings in Ellicot City. She found one she liked. We then went to a jewelry store, and they custom made a similar ring (but sized correctly and with the details she wanted). It turned out amazing! Unfortunately, the ring was never "used" because we did not end up getting married. Now, that ring sits in a drawer, just waiting for me to sell it at a 60% loss. Such is life!
