How on earth do you achieve those whiskers? By leaving them blank? Or are you using some sort of white pencil I’ve never heard of? It’s spectacular in any case.

So there are a number of ways to create white whiskers- a slice tool is very effective for super fine white lines but for big thick whiskers like this get yourself a white museum aquarelle by Caran D’ache-you can sharpen them super sharp and they draw really lovely clear white lines, Thank you so much and happy new year! Lovely! I think I’ll try both of these techniques. I abandoned pencils as I’m a bit clumsy and impatient, and never had a lesson. I always used paint to put reflections in eyes (or whiskers or whatever) as I couldn’t figure out how else to do it.

Totally understand this, when i first started with pencils the only thing I was focused on was speeding up the process as I found it sooo tedious and I’m not particularly patient-I would very much recommend honing your skills by taking on really small subjects, a tiny mouse for example or a little bird no more than about 7cm in circumference, that way you can complete something in a much shorter time and keep the momentum going xx
