I'm moving to Arlington soon this fall and also in the process of buying a car. Just wondering whether apartments with EV chargers are the norm and how easy it is to drive an EV in the area. Thanks!!

Very easy, most apartment complexes have EV charges. There’s also public chargers in the area as well. You will have no issues.

Thank you! I was also debating whether a car is necessary if I were to commute to McLean via the metro. I've heard complaints about the public transportation being unreliable..

If you're commuting from N. Arlington (along the Orange+Silver line) to McLean, you'll have no trouble at all using metro. If you're in S. Arlington, I'd recommend a car for that commute. You'll also find ample charging options in Tysons/McLean.

Very EV friendly area. Of the 4 Arlington apartment buildings I’ve lived in, 2 have had EV charging stations that almost never get used.

That said, if you plan on commuting by car tolls will be a bigger problem than charging. 66 uses demand-driven toll pricing during rush hour and 267 is a toll road at all times. It can really add up.

The silver line is a practical option if your office is close to the station. Super early in the AM or late at night can be less so. Long waits and sketchy people (at least in DC proper. Less so in Arlington and probably very rare in FFX/Loudoun since the stations are above ground)

Many shopping centers have free EV charging stations (I think they're free, I never actually checked).

Any of the Volta chargers with the screens are free. A ton of Giants have them
