Friday December 16 the Philz Coffee in Ballston permanently closed. ARL Now article didn’t give a reason. Anyone know why? I loved that place and they seemed to have closed very sudden🥺

Well they take 10-15min to make a coffee and are in a weird location. Plus there is a compass coffee and multiple other places across the street that brews almost as if not better coffee within minutes. No wonder they closed.

I made the hike past Compass and Union Kitchen because they had a Vegan breakfast sandwich. Until they suddenly didn’t and had no idea when or if it would be back. It always seemed to be busy but I stopped going because that to me was the appeal and they had no idea if it would ever happen again despite it still being advertised.

I actually think compass coffee is trash, I preferred to wait for Philz for a better cup of coffee but I’m clearly a minority on that opinion. Any coffee Ive tried at the ballston compass has been overly syrupy. The pumpkin spice latte was straight up bright orange 🤣

Yeah they did seem to be inconsistent on certain menu items. That’s frustrating. I think my biggest complaint was they didn’t really change their menu to add seasonal drinks, I’m such a sucker for those.

I loved Philz. Just moved from AdMo area to Arlington area and I'm disappointed the Philz here closed right when I moved here.

That’s such unfortunate timing😔 have you heard of slipstream coffee by chance? I recently read one will be moving into ballston near the chipotle! Something new to look forward to I guess
