Crystal City would be the most convenient, but is pretty soulless. Recommend looking at Ballston and Clarendon areas, they are very walkable, have a lot to offer and are about 10 min away from Amazon.

Thanks. As per Zillow a 1 bedroom apartment is around 2200 usd + 200-500 usd deposit. Do you think it’s a reasonable rent for someone with income of around 110k/year? What other overheard expenses will I have related to the apartment?

You’ll need to get with a realtor. Zillow will often have expired listings. Not to mention most rentals have multiple applications and go fast. (Unless it’s an apartment complex).Good luck.

Courthouse would be a good area. Walking distance to Clarendon (the clubbing/bar/food area), quiet neighborhood and age is generally older than Clarendon(late 20’s and up). There’s a bus in front of Clarendon metro that takes you directly to Amazon officers.

Amazon should give you 45 days temporary housing and set you up with a realtor. Personally I would recommend near Clarendon or Courthouse because there's lots to do. Pentagon City is close but less nice. You could live in Alexandria near a metro stop too.

If you have a car, it’ll be at least ~$150/mo for parking. If you’re looking at the Waterpark Towers or Crystal Place apartment complexes, we’re currently experiencing price gouging by the electricity provider: electricity for our 2br apartment was $360 for the month. Make sure that whatever complex you go with uses Dominion Energy as the electricity generation company, NOT Calpine - otherwise you’ll be paying around $400-500 for utilities. Utilities will likely be around $200-300 if they’re using Dominion. Internet costs about $40.

Was going to suggest Courthouse as well.. Was my favorite neighborhood.

In my experience, the people listing their property are the ones that pay the realtor fee.

You will need to sign a contract with the realtor basically stating that you won’t work with other realtors (this is to ensure they get their commission). With you renting sight unseen, tjey are the ones that will do the legwork in more ways than one. I.e carefully read through the lease agreement to make sure it’s agreeable to your needs or that the landlord doesn’t slip anything in there that they shouldn’t. They’ll be the ones that go to tour the place. The photos on sites like Zillow can be misleading. The realtor is there to help you, the tenant.
