Infortunately shooting stars are not actually stars and itd be practically instant unless the speed of wish is abysmal

I think they’re referring to distant stars to wish on, not shooting stars.

I think most people wish on nearby stars. They're further than shooting stars, but you'd still get your wish granted in your lifetime. Also, I'd bet a lot of people are wishing on Venus.
