Would be pretty amazing if that actually happened.

Electrification of our regional rail would be a huge deal, The transit advocacy group TransitMatters put together an interactive trip explorer if you want to try it out. If anyone's interested in learning more about the benefits of electrification check out their more in depth proposal.

Electrification is not just for climate and pollution concerns. It takes less time for electrically powered trains to get up to speed and to slow down compared to diesel trains. Which means you can theoretically decrease the headways between trains, increasing service. We'll see if the MBTA takes advantage of this or not.
