For reference I just moved to Blackstone River road and I don’t have off street parking. I understand there’s no parking on either side when declared, but I didn’t see any announcement anywhere and still got a ticket this morning. Ahhh the plight of being punished for living in my apartment.

There is an overnight winter parking ban after Dec 1st on a good number of streets and I wouldn’t be surprised if that street is one of them. They obviously can’t hit every street every night so sounds like you got unlucky. You’d likely have better luck parking on a side road.

It was just a declared parking ban Street last year but they must’ve changed it. My building is literally on that street and I don’t have a driveway so I don’t know what they expect me to do for parking. They better issue me a parking permit to park on one of the side streets.

Not always. My house is technically off the street so I can't get a pass. But there is non permit parking up the road.

When I went to city hall to complain they used the same form I did. They don't know what's going on.

I’m at city hall now and they said they’re giving me a permit for the side street bordering my building because the building is on the corner. If they didn’t I was ready to file a lawsuit against the city for damages because there’s literally nowhere else to park.

I think someone may have posted notice of the parking ban on this subreddit, but I could be wrong. Pretty sure the city only communicates this sort of stuff online nowadays, and doesn’t send out notice letters. They put signs up but those can be confusing.

I received a ticket once for parking on the street on a leaf sweeping day. City claimed they hung signs on my street, but I walked up and down while on the phone with them and didn’t find any. Thankfully, they waived the ticket fee.

I’d give them a call, if it’s your first ‘offense’ they’ll likely be lenient.

The city has been communicating parking bans only online for *decades*. My mother's car got towed in 2000 for parking overnight on Dean St. No notices, no tickets, nothing. We later discovered the winter parking ban was in effect. But how would someone know who hasn't had to deal with it before?
