An amateur ghost hunter friend is visiting in March. I want to give him an informal tour of spooky/paranormal places in and around Worcester--public or private. I can't think of any. Can you?

Check out Spider Gates in Leicester. It's a creepy old quaker cemetery
The Skull Society building at WPI has some history behind it too.
That’s Goddard’s lab, and prior to that, the electromagnetic library/lab. Goddard blew up stuff in Salisbury and was relocated because of the noise and obvious hazards. It’s not accessible to the public but by some streak of luck I got a chance to see the inside as a student over 20 years ago. Just happened to meet the right people, I guess. Not much to see but I wish they’d do something with it for historical purposes. It was just a frat-style hangout for Skulls with a sofa and some junk when I saw it. It connects to some tunnels that are probably pretty rough at this point.
We have catacombs?!? Where on main? Can you get tours?
WRTA
Great suggestions, thanks everybody!
The old Rutland hospital site is probably inaccessible at this time of year but it super creepy
I’ve read this book on it (should be in local bookstores too) but no you’d need to know someone to gain access

I don’t know about “haunted”, but some really cool old ruins that are open to the public are Rutland Prison Camp, the stone remnants of an old summer house at the south end of Long Pond in Rutland and the grave for the victims of the Naramore murders at Riverside cemetery in Barre (I know this last one does have some ghost stories surrounding it).
Also look up “The Rev” in Fitchburg, also known as Dean Hill Cemetery although I’m pretty sure you could get in trouble for being there after dark.
i’d say westborough state hospital or insane asylum. i haven’t been in years i’m not sure if it’s still standing. they did have security driving around but easy enough to sneak through hole in fence
Leominster State Forest is allegedly home to some Bigfoot and orb(uap) sightings over the years
Stone’s Public House in Ashland, also you can now tour the Conjuring House in Burriville RI
It's too bad the abandoned Danvers Asylum has long since been torn down. I don't think I've ever been somewhere creepier in my life!
You can visit medfield state hospital grounds where they filmed shutter island.
Underrated comment
Higgins armory but I think it’s closed down.
The hell house of Eden.
The purgatory chasm.
Blair witch woods.
BATHSHEBA spooner well.
Spider gates / the 8 gates of hell.
Bathsheba Spooner? Yikes what a story.
One of my favorite places. Always find something cool and creepy there.
Spooner Well in the Brookfields? I live nearby in Warren and I believe I've been to this place.
SK Pierce Mansion in Gardner does tours. It was on the Ghost Hunters tv show.
Colonial Inn in Concord has haunted rooms you can stay in.
The Pierce Mansion in Gardner.
SK Mansion in Gardner. Lots of death, lots of ghosts.
Don't do this on Halloween night. They have police all over the place and you will get a trespass warning. During the day though you are more than welcome to go.
Really just don't do it at night in general. Obviously Halloween is the worst for it but it's a gamble to go at night year round.
The palladium is haunted and has tunnels underneath that lead to the catacombs
I mean it's completely knocked down. It was awesome 20 years ago when you could go in there legally. What an experience
Purgatory is haunted? It’s a natural rock formations that humans gave silly names to.
Not much to see, the Spooner well is surrounded by poison ivy. Elm Hill farm is on the same road, it's where Elsie the Borden cow was born.
The Lizzie Borden house in Fall River.
Rutland Prison Camp was part of the Massachusetts correctional system until it closed in the 1930s. It was for sex offenders and those sent there were committed for life without parole. It was completely self contained with a farm for crops, dairy and cattle. Before it had it's own cemetery the prison's dead were buried in unmarked graves. It's rumored there's hundreds of those and that the grounds are haunted. When I was a kid in Boy Scouts we did community service there clearing brush and building trails. We camped there and were told all kinds of ghost stories and didn't wander far after dark. We didn't experience anything paranormal but the ghost stories fed our imaginations. No spooks but a nice place to explore.
Yup. Sadly the idiots going in there and spray painting pentagrams ruined it for everyone else a long time ago.
Hit up concord in general - sleepy hollow cemetery has graves from the 1600, all the revolutionary war stuff has rumors of hauntings. Hart well tavern sometimes does ghost stories by candlelight in the old inn.
The wayside Inn in Sudbury also has a few resident ghost claims, plus George Washington stayed there and it was mentioned in a famous poem. You can go for a reasonably priced meal, explore the nearby gristmill, and walk around concord all in one day.
Well isn’t Westborough state hospital Gone too
Hoosac tunnel or gtfo.
