massachusetts needs more gun safety reform, a gun buy back program no questions asked would be amazing

Do those buybacks have a positive effect on gun crime though? If I were a gun-owning criminal I would just get some sweet government money for my defective guns and keep my working guns for crimes.

What “sweet money”? They give you like a $75 gift card for groceries if you’re lucky. Criminals aren’t turning in their guns at buybacks, those a more for turning in your dead relatives’ guns that aren’t used anymore or maybe if you find a lost gun on the street somewhere.

A gun buy back program is a small stepping stone in the bigger picture of gun reform. To truly stop/prevent crime from happening is to make it easier to follow the rules then to not, this would happen by implementing stronger social safety nets that allow people more finical mobility i.e more funding in public transportation, nationalized housing (fuck the privatization of housing), FREE healthcare etc.

hope this made sense. if you have question feel free to ask
