The certificate of title and and certificate of registration are two different documents. The title records the ownership of the vehicle, the registration records the current license status.

You should have received the certificate of registration when you licensed the vehicle. That's what you're required to carry. The title should be kept in a safe place - not the car. If It's lost or stolen you'll have to jump through a lot of hoops to replace it.

The replacement is pretty simple, appointment and $80 for insta title, of course you need to fill out a special form, but it is really easy
