My neighbor is a USfW licensed ornithologist. He captures, bands and records birds in his back yard. Some of them from here in WA pop up in Southern Chile and the Pampas/Patagonia region of Argentina. Apparently, there’s a whole network of bird geeks out there that communicate with each other.
Anyway, what we call pigeons are supposedly called “rock doves” which are adapted to living on cliffs and are non-migratory, unlike the European Swallow. That’s why they’re so prevalent in urban environments. They have no sources of coconuts outside of cities.
