Yeah, I’ve been stuck in that before. I gotta say though, I use the WSDOT cameras religiously in the wintertime. It just gets too crazy not to.

This happens every first few snow storms of the year. People drive like morons and trucks don't chain up. Wsdot generally does a good job but I watched the snoqualmie webcam the other day and they had several inches on the freeway at the pass and only had traction tires advised... its early snow for sure but drivers/wsdot need to be prepared, we have amazing forecasting at the tip of our fingers so it's not like this isn't unexpected

You are correct. Except it's the cars that don't chain up! I drive this pass 4 times a week in a semi and we do chain up yes there are a few stupid semi drivers that think they can not follow the rules. But it is by far more car drivers driving like idiots.

Yeah its like a cascade once someone spins out. Most drivers who doesn't have chains or 4wd behind ends up spinning out as well. I live near the pass and ski there several times a week and can say that the trucks drive extremely aggressively. The issue is if a truck jack knifes its going to block at least two lanes and require special equipment which takes much longer than a normal tow truck.

They need to start slapping people that cause this stuff with massive fines. It's always some selfish clown that wants to just try to make it over the pass even though they're completely unprepared, they don't want to turn around, they don't want to do anything except just do their own reckless nonsense that literally ruins thousands of peoples days. The amount of fuel wasted idling, peoples time, missed plans, hours stuck in traffic with kids, the shear amount of stress caused is astronomical and the idiots that cause it take zero accountability for any of it

Better hunker down, the weather conditions are a dicey mixed bag. don’t be on the roads if you don’t have to.

But 4WD/AWD totally helps with braking. /s

Just because you can accelerate to 40-60 mph in shitty road conditions doesn't mean it's prudent to actually drive at 40-60 mph with shitty traction and seemingly random (to morons) icy spots.

Yeah a bad car driver spins out then a semi following to close yeah we are all at fault. I know I drive my semi really cautious. Cars should also respect are size and that we are on tight schedules our world and lifestyle is much different than others.

Snoqualmie is the worst pass in the snow. Honestly it’s a joke. Take Hwy 2 over stevens for much less headache.

I'm going to be going up through there in a little less than a month... Any advice for improving our odds of not getting stuck/passing through safely? Should we certainly count on snowy weather?

Of course people who can't drive in the rain can't drive in the snow
