Nice painting. It captures what it felt like to be there as well as the scene itself.

After having been to the Hoh a dozen times in the damp gloom, I finally went there on a clear and sunny summer day. It looked strange and wrong at first.

Thank you, I love to hear that! I aim to capture that feeling in my paintings. And I also went hoping it would be a wet fall weekend, but was met with a dusty, 95-degree day in September, and that was... bizarre and disconcerting. But then I stuck my feet in the icy river and was so thankful it was there.

I've seen some of your other work (I belong to about 30 cat subs so your username stuck in my head). I like your style. I don't get the feeling of painstaking attention to detail, yet there is enough detail to easily recognize places. Your landscapes feel free. Thanks for sharing!

Plein air?

Sadly no! My goal had been to do a plein air painting in that same spot, but it was just way too hot that day. This was done from a photo.

Been quite warm this october. Lovely painting, really loving those rich blues in the distance. Particularly the silhouetted evergreens.

Beautiful work. šŸ’™
