Especially when there are lesser known trails (not featured by instagrammers) that are near by with the same views 🤦🏻♀️

I drove by there on Friday, the parking was on highway 20. I posted a picture. I was going to say, how did you get an un-peopled picture? It was smoky too….Diablo Lake was almost completely obscured. It is a fad right now… it will subside when the hoards discover something else. The larches are so pretty…hoping to go midweek later this month.

I like nature when it's not full of humans.

I got there super early to try and beat the crowd on the way up…it was worth it. I wonder how much of it being considered a fad is due to people trying to see the larches in the 2-3 week period before the needles fall off…this sense of urgency is definitely what motivated me to go on my Saturday off.

The specific nature pictured is very much full of humans.

Yeah it's funny I always get downvoted for telling people to stop posting pictures of your favorite hikes unless you want it ruined....... well... good job everyone you got your post karma and now every one and their brother is at your favorite spot. Hope you had fun 😊

I'm just saying this is a perfect example of what's gonna happen at your trail head if you keep posting photos of it

As a person who works in environmental restoration…I’m not about to gatekeep the outdoors. There’s a balance to be had in allowing people to have access to places like this while educating the public about why it is so important we take care of our environment. A lot of times people don’t become active in the environmental movement until experiencing a hike like this that moves them emotionally. And like others have said, this was an already widely popular hike before these pictures were shared.

If i hadn't spent my whole life on the trails out here and seen nothing but increases in damage, trash, trail destruction, wildlife harrasment,etc.. I would probably think nothing but kumbaya also.. Unfortunately for me I rely on evidence.

Lol well according to the other thread… you’re a piece of shit yuppie leaving poop bags & blue tooth speakers in your wake, basking in the veracious audacity of a weekend wilderness warrior, callously taking step after defiant step up the trail, only to inevitably descend back to the overpopulated, tech-bro run, [something something no more bear cubs downtown] hell-hole that you - and waaaay too many other ppl - call home.
Seattle - breathtaking views of the natural world (but don’t you dare fucking try to see them, Chad)

I like nature even more when it’s not full of toxic wildfire smoke.
lurkerfromstoneage t1_irpsfx8 wrote
Ok but NO PLEASE NO do NOT play music on the trails, throw your waste (including orange and banana peels!!) out into the forestland, go off trail, smoke (especially with wildfire risks…!!), go with a huge group and block the entire trail, forget to say excuse me/announce passing etc., leave your dog off leash, get wasted and bother other hikers, take selfies in the middle of the trail with other people around you, do stupid risky shit so maybe S&R will have to come find you…. Be smart, be safe, make common sense decisions…. Why is it so hard for so many people?? People are too fucking selfish 🤨 (yeah, all this stuff is common)
