I want to go here so bad but don’t like going by myself. Lol Maybe one of these days I’ll venture out or convince the wife.

Is this Colville National Forest? I've always wanted to check that area out.

There are some lovely (and very reasonable) Air BnBs in the area if roughing it is the problem.

Gorgeous area. I hiked some of the PNT through there a few years ago. Would love to go back

I think it’s technically outside of the national forest, I can’t remember. I live in Colville and this place was about an hour and a half north from here

Hah. I lived in Kettle Falls for about 10 years. Haven’t been to Stevens county for a couple of years now. How is Colville nowadays?

I’m relatively new around these parts, I’m sure long timers would tell you it’s gone to shit lol. But I like the area

I’ve only seen tracks in the snow. None that look predatory, just deer mostly. In the city you’ll see deer all day every day, but the further away you go the more they hide

Roughing it isn’t the problem, it’s the getting out of my couch and going part. Lol I keep slowly exploring the surrounding areas in Spokane and have seen the signs for this area. I won’t be home until April, so maybe I can motivate myself enough to go.

Chewelah and Colville are two different worlds. Haha. And I do miss the hamburgers from Sportys.

They have a great burger! And have really improved the menu and dining scene over the last few years.

Spent a solid 3 years, living in an abandoned campground, up in north Pend Oreille County. Definitely the best part of the state, and this is coming from someone born and raised on the Olympic Peninsula. Truly god's country. Miss the larch turning in the fall. That looks a bit like the old mill pond.

I live 25 miles north of kettle falls, love it. Best area in Washington state. Hopefully a recession stops people from moving in.

Looks like Mill Pond? Such a beautiful area. I try to go to Sullivan Lake as much as possible in the summer.

Would love to see it remain that way.

You are correct! I stumbled upon mi pond this summer on accident and I’ve been coming back frequently since then
PipeLayer2016 t1_j7c195n wrote
No pond there now though. I helped tear it down about 4 or 5 years ago and do a bunch of habitat restoration. Locals weren't happy, but I suspect they aren't ever happy with any type of change
PipeLayer2016 t1_j7c1qkf wrote
That is at the old mill pond, where elk creek dumps onto the Sullivan river. They are at the parking lot next to the bridge that goes over the, now demolished, mill pond dam.
