Lol, being a non-native English speaker, I thought that “to call luck” was a thing and I checked on Urban Dictionary instead of reading the article.

There's a probability for winning a substantial ammount in "gambling" and having a certain kind of name.
It's funny when it happens and we hear from it but otherwise totally predictable that it will happen.
I'd be suprised if no person ever with a funny or fitting name won any notable ammount of money or got successfull. This would mean that the universe is biased and ultimately confirm gods existence, and that he's kind of a jerk.

There's a city in Poland called Hel, by the sea coast at the tip of our only real peninsula. There used to be an intercity bus line 666 that started in Gdynia and went to Hel.

Someone wins the lottery all the time. It’s still a gambling addiction. Far from uplifting finding out the person who won lived in a town with a funny name.

It's not outlandish odd. If you take all the places on Earth that are called luck, then multiply by the total populous in each instance, then multiply again by the total number of lotteries that have happened, in the time that place has existed, then add all the totals together. Now get the average odds of winning a lottery and divide by the previous figure.
I don't think the odds are going to be that high.
