I'm 50/50 on whether this is actually uplifting.

Yeah it's good that we found something we can do that might help.

But it's still disappointing that we'll go this far afield to find something that MIGHT help while firmly refusing (as a society) to make the really obvious changes that would definitely help.

I agree with you to a point because I think you’re right, I just don’t know what else we could do to make it work in the proper time frame. What suggestions do you have?

At least where I live, there isn't even a consensus that anything needs to be done at all. So it doesn't even matter how what my ideas are, because they won't get acted on either.

A reasonable debate would be "What should we do about climate change?" but instead, because of one political party, we're still stuck having a debate on whether climate change is even happening.

I agree. I believe it’s for this reason we must apply action where we can. And I also think it’ll get better because it must or we’ll all perish.

You're right, but the problem is that there is virtually nothing I can do that will make a difference when industrial processes and the steadfast reliance on fossil fuels will counteract any positive changes I make thousands of times over. And I am the only person I am in charge of.

I feel that way too. But I do know from having had this conversation that I’m not alone. And if you and I feel this same way then there are a lot more people who feel the same way too who would, joined together, be able to do something about it. Which gives me hope.
