Why not just end the circus? Repackage the other performances as something new.

Circuses used to display "human freaks," people with all kinds of physical deformities. As public sensitivities changed, circuses did away with those acts and instead focused on artistic acts and animal training.

It seems like doing away with animal acts as the public is is more aware and concerned about animal welfare just seems like the next logical step. I don't see how this would necessarily mean the end of circuses, or why we should no longer call it "the circus."

Trying something completely new doesn't always sell. So why not try to reuse an existing idea and add something new to see if it'll sell better?

Maybe but should they also then use holograms of people who were once considered freaks and exploited. Showing holograms of the animals still represents a negative thing. I don't know man...just throwing some ideas out there.

We're just looking at it from different angles is all.

I'd love to attend a hologram show that puts 20 foot ogres center stage.

Put a mo-cap performer as the ogre and have the ring leader tame it.

I'm sold.

As long as the holograms of the animals are captured ethically then it's very different. The issue with animals performing at the circuss is the well-being of the animals. The issue with showing people with deformities or other extreme physiology is exploitation. Our society has no issue with the exploitation of animals, as long as they are well treated in that exploitation.

I don’t disagree but doesn’t make the use of holograms even sillier vs just treating the animals properly?

Maybe we should take animals out of movies too.

I’m not even suggesting they be removed from circuses. I’m just questioning the logic of using holograms if you feel what they are being used to represents an evil practice.
