Being Swedish, I'm still in shock finding out this is not the norm in industrialised countries already. Been legally mandated here since 97.

We have this implemented in Russia. Free breakfast, lunch and the afternoon tea with sweets/pastry for elementary kids. And very cheap meals for everyone else. Yeah, it was the same in the USSR, but not in the early days of RF. They only returned that policy a couple of years ago. You don't have to be a first-world country, you don't even need successful economy to take care of your kids. Because who else will? Kids are more important than anything.

Oh ho ho! The wealthiest county on Earth just ended the additional food funding for children in the middle of a housing crisis, logistics crisis, inflation crisis, endemic crisis, and healthcare collapse.

Western World leaders do not care about the poor in the slightest. Unless they feel like guillotines are about to start rolling down the streets.
