I don't know what this language is but if it's dying and people aren't using it. What's the point of keeping it alive? Seems like they're just giving kids more work to do for no reason

As someone who spent a lot of time in Fresno I was like "but I know a ton of people who speak Hmong" and then I read further lol

This latest generation, with YT, has seen alot of great artists and music. I think that has caused alot of young people to want to learn Hmong, at least the lyrics of the songs.

They want to preserve their culture and sense of identity. Other people will assume they are Chinese or Japanese but they aren't and wouldn't be accepted in those communities because they don't speak the language. So they need to keep their own community strong.

I've lived in fresno and at my old high school they implemented a program that provides hmong language classes for hmong students

There’s a large Hmong community in south eastern WI, glad to hear to they are flourishing in other areas too!
