My GF (18) and I (19) are looking to move out soon due to complications at both our homes. We are hoping to find a place by February. We’re only looking for a 1 bedroom. Can anyone recommend a few apartment buildings to possibly check out. Currently we are looking into bmr apartments as well. We’re looking for an apartment building that allows kitties 🐱 bc we have 2.

Stamford isn’t particularly affordable, especially now. What’s your budget?

To be very honest it’ll be very hard to find a one bedroom for less than 2k, and there’s also extra fees in any places that you decide to rent depending on the amenities. Also keep in mind that most places will charge you a pet rent and it varies.
I was looking for places a few months ago and the cheapest 1 bedroom I found was around 2300 + other fees.

You can try the residences on Bedford (the building seems dumpy but the apartments are spacious and overall nice) they are very cheap for the area but I’ve heard a couple bad reviews from them but if you’re looking to get out of a bad home situation then might be better to live there. Also I believe 1032 hope st is decently priced.

Good luck with bmr. I was on the bmr list for 2 years. Even knew someone who worked for leasing at harbor point. Couldn't help me

You're gonna have a hard time finding anything in your price range. Neighboring cities aren't much better either. Unless you want to live in Bridgeport. If you don't mind taking the train, I'd recommend looking somewhere on the metro north line. You'd probably have a better chance getting a place in westchester, or new haven county

A $2000 1-bed is quite rare in Stamford and, depending on your location preferences, hard to find. Obviously you'll have more luck as you go further from downtown.

Only option is to trawl Apartments.com, Zillow, Facebook Marketplace etc and be prepared to make a very quick decision as soon as something becomes available. I found my place on Apartments.com and put a deposit down 10 mins after seeing it. Good luck!

I know beggars can't be choosers but Residences on Bedford really do have truly terrible reviews, I would suggest they be a last resort. There are definitely better options out there.

I have to be honest, we settled on Stamford because Westchester was totally inaccessible. Especially White Plains. Maybe it was harder the past summer or we didn’t look hard enough though. Scarsdale, Port Chester, Yonkers, etc may be a bit better but not by much.

There's a 1 bedroom townhouse looking thing going for $800 on the East Side that just hit Zillow the other night. (I got an email about it...of course after signing a lease on a new place in Black Rock but whatevs...)

The way the market is around here right now, it's probably already gone lol.
