Checking who else on this subreddit is experiencing a rather significant Optimum outage right now. Working from home (North Stamford) and cord-cutting - plus all my smart home devices - means that without Fiber/Cable internet I'm dead in the water. Living off of my phone's hotspot which isn't great on AT&T in North Stamford - ordinarily have a AT&T LTE microcell to improve service, but that relies on an Internet connection too!

More information at Optimum | Notification ... Apparently some sort of major vandalism incident? Anyone have more info on this?

UPDATE: got Internet back around 5:30pm this afternoon. Good luck to everyone else!!!!

UPDATE 2: and here is an article on the alleged vandals https://connecticut.news12.com/two-charged-with-damaging-optimum-cable-lines-causing-thousands-of-outages

Not the best mugshots. 😕

Optimum said there is a huge outage in Fairfield County. Apparently someone cut the optic lines and they are working to getting them fixed by tomorrow I believe. If you can log into your optimum account you can see the message about it.

We are also in North Stamford. Switched to frontier over a year ago and haven’t regretted it. It’s been so much more stable than optimum. Not that that’s helpful right now but for future reference

We had already moved to Frontier Fiber from Optimum... We moved as soon as Frontier came to town... But had an outage in October due to a Fiber break to our house which Frontier seemed incapable of fixing... After 10 days without any progress, we ended up moving back to Optimum.

The only good thing is that as both Frontier and Optimum cover me with fiber, their prices are reasonable at $60 for 1 Gig.

Almost tempted to get two services... My Cisco router supports load balancing across two WAN links so it wouldn't be such a big stretch.
