I can't fucking take it. chainsaws. leaf blowers. snow blowers. lawn mowers. And it's all day, all year round. one day you guys are going to get a patch.com notification about "stamford man self-mutilates ears off off of high ridge road, claims 'couldn't stand the fucking buzzing buzzing buzzing buzzing buzzing anymore'". There should be designated hours where you can and can't use heavy industrial machinery on grass and leaves. Maybe from 12pm to 4pm and never on weekends. Really makes you feel like you're in the shining or that one episode of It's Always Sunny about the suburbs.

edit: realizing my patch.com bit implies that it would be the landscapers I would be stabbing. the bit's intent was not to express ill will towards landscapers (my uncle works in landscaping) but rather to express the degree to which the noise drives me insane.

There was a recent effort on this: https://www.stamfordadvocate.com/news/article/Stamford-considers-limiting-gas-powered-leaf-17723560.php

>The proposal would limit leaf-blower usage — previously exempt from
Stamford's noise control ordinance — to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays,
and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends and holidays. The restrictions do not
apply to city employees and agents operating them "in the course of city
business."

We have this in Greenwich, and honestly it's worthless. I care that it is going on all day while I'm working from home, not in the two hours between work and sunset.

But cutting down to just 4hrs/day would make it tough to earn a buck for a whole lot of people.

Can testify this is 100% a fact having been in the landscape business before, in 4 hours you could only realistically get maybe 3 houses done with a crew of 4. Now if you were below the parkway you could get maybe 9 houses done. As it is when I worked a full day landscaping we only got 5-7 houses done and that was a lot, we only got that number done because 4 of the houses were right next to each other.

Plenty of places north of the Merritt could be a half day job, but those aren't the places worried about leaf blower noise either, I guess.

I had a lawn business years ago in the DC area, and it's really tough to make decent money without scale. Had one good cash cow: with three guys, I'd do 44 lawns every other Thursday. Slumlord owned about 3 consecutive blocks of Section 8 duplexes in a rough part of town. Small, flat, identical lawns with no landscaping or fences, and all in a row, it took about nine and a half hours of pure hustle and paid $1400. God bless that dirtbag.

Chill out and invest in a good pair of noise canceling headphones.

I get the frustration but it would be physically impossible for all the work done if schedules were limited to the degree you're talking about.

It’s being discussed in Stamford to follow the Greenwich hours which I believe are 8-6 M-F and 3pm on weekends. Part of the problem is landscapers do Greenwich first then come to Stamford in the evening. It’s obnoxious

Those landscapers would dust you, sir.

The Marlboro Red wouldn’t even fall out of the corner of their mouth either. They burn up in the sun all day waiting for some smart-ass like you to say something as dumb as you just posted

Best of luck on your noise free city utopia though

I highly doubt that bud, the crew I worked with would have dusted you. Then the boss would have given the okay to dump all the gathered leaves on you door step. Then again he wasn't a reasonable human.

So basically if you can’t afford to pay someone to landscape your yard go fuck your self? Yikes.

City needs to mandate electric leaf blowers. Better for the environment, less noisy.

1/4 the power, 1/2 the noise. You'll hear a bit less noise for a whole lot longer. Not a great trade.

They do that you will end up paying more for landscaping, it will take twice as long to clear leaves from properties, they are way underpowered and the amount of down time to charge batteries
