I think it would be more accurate to say "You don't see chinese people with down syndrome".
You can know wether or not a child is going to have it or not during the first three months.
Chinese would abort children just for being woman. I don't see why they wouldn't abort down syndrome children as well.
Hope I don't get ban for this, but it's the truth.

Is there a % of error? How much is it?
ThisDumbBtch t1_iy9vb8x wrote
According to google: "About eight or nine out of 10 cases of Down syndrome are detected (classified as screen positive). This means that one or two out of 10 pregnancies with Down syndrome are missed (classified as screen negative)."
So, a fair amount are not diagnosed until birth.

what a gross generalisation of literally billions of people.
Realistic_Ad3795 t1_iy9amfq wrote
You should go there. It isn't a gross generalization.
Based on cultural pressure, lack of public support after birth, and general financial status of the population, it is statistically rare that a known case of down's syndrome is carried ot term in the country of China.

It’s a chromosome issue, which can affect literally anyone.
Down Syndrome or trisomy (sp?) 21 happens to be more prevalent in the US.

I'm in Madison, Wisconsin where it's 10% Asian (Hmong and Chinese are the most common). I've seen plenty of them.
Pechugo83 t1_iy8josw wrote
I once saw a joke about them existing but they just look like each other so much, you cant tell they have it. And although it's only a joke, they do (at least in my eyes) look a lot more similar to other asians without it. Maybe the same happens to them and theyve never seen a white with down syndrome cause we look similar in their eyes. The real question is, do redhead black people exist?
