Poor shower thought but good complaint - I absolutely hate this.

Every damn help article wastes your time with a pointless introduction to scroll past.

Wanting to know how to change the resolution settings?

"Resolution is an important setting for any application and there will be times when the default value is sub optimal for your..."

"This guide will teach you how to easily...."

I don't know if it's minimum word count requirements or what but it's so insulting to the reader, zero of whom require a scene setting introduction.

It gives the writer more room to cram advertisements.

I'm not sure to be honest, I do like observations like this but shower thoughts are really supposed to be more like quirky little things you've just realised about the world.

Sort of like "we come into this world with no teeth, little to no hair, no bladder control, and needing to be looked after, and we go back to that state before we leave it"

or

"Being up for something and being down for something means exactly the same thing"

But I've been wanting to rant about those stupid article conventions for years, so I'm not complaining too much! I feel the same way about youtube help videos with long pointless intro sequences followed by the same scene setting monologues, but at least those guys aren't being paid for their services!
